Summer Traineeships 2010 Science on Holidays July 19th to 23rd
Researchers: Ana Raquel Matos, Hugo Dias, José Manuel Mendes, Manuel Carvalho da Silva, Pedro Araújo and Susana Costa The traineeship will analyze different contexts, initiatives, objects, symbols and actions typical of collective protests, trying to understand what purpose they serve and discuss what is its relevance in the Portuguese society. Together with students, we will begin by defining the legal framework of these types of action, search in the city of Coimbra visual indicators of protests that have occurred or in course, which will be photographically documented; visit the April 25 Documentation Centre to research and analyze protest records; try understand how we can organize a protest action, how emotions are managed... discussing the importance of these demonstrative actions, of problems and collectives affected for Sociology. From a hypothetical controversial situation, we will design, along with the students, a protest action. |
