The Project TENTS, The European Network for Traumatic Stress, after a process of consultation of experts from different European countries and of validation of collected data, proceeded to the elaboration of the guidelines and   final instruments regarding psychosocial intervention in post-catastrophe situations.

A year after the first workshop within the Project TENTS / The European Network for Traumatic Stress, organized by the Observatory of Risk, Centre for Social Studies, University of  Coimbra and coordinated by PhD. Francisco Orengo García, Professor at the School of  Medicine, Complutense University of Madrid and President of the Spanish Society of Psychotraumatology and Traumatic Stress, a second workshop will be held, under the theme Trauma (and) Risks: dilemmas and answers, conforming to two objectives:

  • presentation and discussion of guidelines of European scope on intervention in post-catastrophe and post-disaster situations;
  • presentation of the more relevant therapeutic intervention techniques; 

 
Programme

10h – 13h Workshop for guest entities

  • Presentation of the recommendations following the workshop held in January, 2008
  • Presentation by Francisco Orengo García of the guidelines and final instruments regarding psychosocial intervention in post-catastrophe situations, in the European context, resulting from the Project TENTS
  • Discussion with Portuguese entities’ representatives on their applicability of European guidelines in Portuguese context

  • Brief presentation of the results of Project TENTS – Professor Francisco Orengo Garcia
  • Public announcement of the creation of the Centre for Trauma, Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra – José Manuel Mendes (Centre for Social Studies) and Luísa Sales (Coimbra Military Hospital)
