Science, Technology and Society Studies Research Group Seminar Cycle
Public Risks

Rapporteur: José Manuel Mendes

March 26th, 2009, 9:30, CES Seminar Room

Presentation

This NECTS seminar cycle (2009) has for aim to present ongoing CES research, be it resulting from an individual or multiparty effort, within fields linked to studies on Science, Technology and Society. The cycle has yet for aim to promote a reflection platform regarding research produced by NECTS and OSIRIS members in dialogue with other CES researchers as well as from other research centres in transdisciplinary fields of knowledge, such as risk, participation and life sciences. The intention is to map and imagine future routes of research and to render close cooperation with external researchers, whilst they meet.

The seminars contemplate four thematic blocks that will take place bimonthly, the first one intituled Public risks, followed by New Methodologies and Technologies of Participation and the block Science in Society and finally, an interdisciplinary block, dedicated to external researchers, expected to occur during September or October.

Each thematic block will also count on a rapporteur for each session, presenting a final summary as to emphasize the strategic debate lines, and outlining opportunities for future cooperation, whether through interdisciplinary dialogue, whether through cooperation with other institutions. Gathering these conclusions will result in an integrative document of the cycle that combined with the papers produced by each researcher during his/her presentation will constitute a thematic number of the e-cadernos CES.
