Biographic note

Nancy Duxbury, PhD. researcher, integrates the “Cities and Urban Cultures Studies” at CES. Her research focuses on culture and sustainability, stressing on cultural planning practices of European cities and solutions for cultural integration in the extent of urban sustainability initiatives.

Also she is Associate Professor at the Centre for Studies of Culture Policies and Communities at the School of Communication at the Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada. Between September 2005 and October 2008 she was Executive Director of the Expertise Centre for Culture and Communities, a renowned institution as what pertains to cultural planning and cultural infrastructures in Canadian cities and communities.

Was member for the Metro Vancouver Regional Cultural Committee, of the Advisory Board of the Canadian Cultural Observatory and the Advisory Committee for Cultural Statistics of Canada. Holds a Doctoral Degree in Communication and a Master in Publication at Simon Fraser University. Her research has evaluated municipal involvement in what regards to cultural development, cultural infrastructures, cultural indicators, culture and sustainability, Canadian cultural policy and the Canadian publishing industry.
