Presentation

CES hosts, in its Lisbon facilities, the photography exhibition “ Right to Memory and Truth”, organized by the Special Secretariat for Human Rights of the Presidency of the Republic  of Brazil.

The exhibition, originally conceived to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the promulgation of the Amnesty Law of Brazil, was firstly open in August 2006, in the House of Representatives of Brasilia.

According to the Minister of the Special Secretariat for Human Rights of the Presidency of Brazil, Paulo de Tarso Vannuchi, “the exhibition brings out a sound and visual ambiance that leads the audience through a ‘Time Travel’  […] up till the dictatorship years in Brazil. The exhibition is another way of getting to know what happened during this unfortunate period in Brazilian republican life. Only by acknowledging such will Brazil learn to construct effective instruments in order to guarantee that the violations of human rights, that took place during the dictatorship, shall nevermore repeat”.
