Post-Doctoral Programme Seminar Claudete Moreno Ghiraldelo June 24th, 2009, CES Seminar room The present seminar has for aim to present the outputs regarding social stratification in Brazil and subjectivities. This research, of exploratory and qualitative character, had for main aim the identification of discourses on inequalities, betaking a corpus constituted by: 8i) semi-structured oral interviews, collected next to Brazilians, different professionals, that occupy different socio-economic positions; and (ii) news from two important Brazilian press bodies. With the analysis of the enunciations of the deponents and journalistic texts, the objective was to understand how different discourses on social inequalities in Brazil materialize, structure and sustain themselves, thus, drawing out contemporary Brazilian subjectivities as was pertains to social inequalities, subjectivities engendered by certain “abyssal lines” and in these anchored. Altogether, it was possible to detect that some discourses are recurrent, and typical, only to the subjects of certain social status, while others are materialized by all deponents, regardless of their socio-economic positions.
