About the Documentary

The city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is often scene of summary and arbitrary executions commited by agents of the Sate. Each death drags with it pain to those who remain, namely family and friends, affecting their entire circle. The Documentary  “Luto como mãe” focuses on the stories of survivors, mothers, sisters and wives, that lost their family in acts of urban armed violence and deal with the daily trauma of family disarticulation, financial difficulties and stigma. These women seek now to fight for justice and visibility. In 70 minutes we will get to know these women of strength, persistence, will for justice and change and their courses in the passage from mourning to struggle.
