When waters raise: the struggle of the Movement of the Struck by Dams in Brazil

The research has for aim to analyze the trajectory of the Movement of the Struck by Dams (MAB) in Brazil, namely their forms of organization and resistance concerning great hydroelectric projects. It also seeks to research the articulation of social-political issues with environmental dimension of the movement in the course of its history. It also pursues the understanding of its project and its struggle strategies in order to face the current energetic model (wealth concentrator and environmental predator), as well as the capitalist system.

 
Biographic note

Dirceu Benincá – Doctoral Student in Social Sciences at PUC-SP, in doctoral traineeship at CES under Professor Pedro Hespanha’s co-supervision. Holds a Master Degree in Social Sciences at PUC-SP and is researcher on popular movements in Brazil.
