This work provides a detailed account of FRELIMO’s birth, the courage of the people who constituted it and what they have accomplished. “FRELIMO’s project of society was defined and synthesized in the Program approved on the First Congress, in Dar-es-Salaam, held between September 23rd and 28th, 1962”. “In short, the project of society had five points: the very organization and functioning of the Front, valuing the Central Committee, that is, the leadership; the involvement of the Mozambican society on short, medium and long-term objectives, that is, citizenship; the medium and long-term guerrilla, that is, liberation; the development of a ‘Mozambican people’ conscience, where militants of FRELIMO can be distinguished (youths and women) and an absence references to traditional power, that is, the moving forces of society; the international relations with movements from the Portuguese colonies, African countries, and international and collateral organizations.” Eduardo and Janet Mondlane created the Mozambican Institute in order to instruct young Mozambicans who wished to do so, since all other options were unavailable to the majority of them. “Since 1969, the official speech of FRELIMO becomes strongly revolutionary and socialist ideals begin to emerge, guiding the organization of both decision centres and of the instruction units, particularly concepts such as «new society» and «new man»”.
