“In 1980 the Office for the Organization and Development of Agricultural Cooperatives (GODCA), of the Ministry of Agriculture, requested a study from the Centre for African Studies, which would later be published under the title Macassane: Estudo de uma cooperativa no Distrito de Matutuíne, Província de Maputo. This study was conducted in four stages, of four days each, [in] 1980, through individual and collective interviews, participative observations (including participation in weekly encounters of the Cooperative Cellule and in the neighbouring communities of Macassane and Mudada) and conversations with district administration workers involved in the Cooperative management”.
