Girardet, Raoul (1972)

“Raoul Girardet was a teacher of Political Studies in Paris, where he taught history of political ideas”. The author analyses a feeling born at the end of 19th century France, connected with a will for colonial expansion: he tries to analyse how this idea was set, in which environments, over which themes and the resistances it had to face. He further examines the place the colonial act occupied in French national conscience.
