The PhD Programme on Governance, Knowledge and Innovation is biennial and has vacancies.

Applications for the academic year of 2007/2008 will be accepted until 15th September. Those received until 15th May or 15th July will be evaluated on those dates. The remainder will be evaluated in September.

 

Applications and Selection Criteria

Applications are accepted from holders of MA degrees in Economics, Sociology, Management, International Relations or other Social and Human Sciences, with the maximum number of students admitted being 25. Holders of an MA must have a minimum grade of 16/20 to be considered for the PhD Programme. Exceptionally, and upon decision of the Scientific Council of the School of Economics, other applications may be taken into account, namely those of holders of an MA with an average grade below the one mentioned above, or by candidates with MAs from other Portuguese Universities, provided their curriculum displays an adequate basic scientific background. Applicants for enrollment in the Programme will be selected by the Scientific Council, following the criteria below:

  1. Academic and scientific curriculum;
  2. Work experience;
  3. MA grade;
  4. Submittal of a 5 to 10 page paper, justifying the applicant’s interest in attending the Programme;
  5. Knowledge of a language other than Portuguese;
  6. Interview.
