CES is organising the International Conference “Law and Inequalities” that will take place from 23rd to 24th of April 2012 at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra. In the week that the Democratic Revolution of 25th of April celebrates its 38th anniversary, a moment which opened the gates to important achievements in the field of fundamental rights, and in the spirit of interdisciplinarity which characterises the research conducted at CES, three research projects and the Doctoral Program “Law, Justice and Citizenship in the 21st century” gather in an important moment of reflexion and debate.
The research projects “The Gender of Family Law and Justice in Portugal: Gender inequality and violence in family law's transformation and in Family Court decisions”, “Without rights: the (limited) citizenship of illegal immigrants and their access to law and justice in the European Union and Portugal”, and “The International Labour Organization in the Portuguese Labour Law: repercussions and constraints of a socio-legal paradigm”, coordinated by João Pedroso and António Casimiro Ferreira set the tone for this International Conference, structured around three main themes: a. Gender and Law/Rights; b. Citizenship, Immigration and Law/Rights; c. Labour and Law/Rights.
The plenary sessions entitled "Perspectives" will count with the presence of experts and foreign guests, opening the theoretical debate. The parallel sessions entitled “Debates” will be organized around the three main themes, preceded by a call for papers.
