Maria Manuel Leitão Marques


Biography

Maria Manuel Leitão Marques graduated in Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra and is full professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (law department) and permanent researcher at the Centre for Social Studies. She has leaded and participated in several research projects on economic law, competition law and sociology of law and state administration, both at national and international level. She is author of several publications, edited by national and international publishers, which mainly cover the following fields: Public Administration, eGovernment, Public Regulation, European Law, Competition Law, Consumer Law (indebtedness and overindebtedness) and Sociology of Law. She is also Vice-President of the "Association Internationale de Droit Economique". From 2005 to 2011 she was member of the Portuguese Government (Secretary of State for Administrative Modernisation), responsible for administrative simplification and eGovernment policies, coordinating Simplex - Legislative and Administrative Simplification Programme. Her current research priorities include public regulation of economy and public services innovation.
